A project that had been in the pipeline for some time
I’d had this project in mind for between 9 and 10 years: to reach the mainland and the Chausey archipelago by paraglider. The idea first took shape in August 2010 after my first flight from La Roche-à-Busnel down to the sea. I’d landed on the beach, directly in line with the islands, at an altitude of 600 metres.
It was when I saw this magnificent archipelago and its crystal-clear waters that I was struck by the desire to reach it in flight. It didn’t look all that far away, at a glance! But to cross those 19 km, I needed sufficient altitude combined with enough drift; the challenge seemed achievable.

Unforgettable images
I’m not the only one who did it. Twenty minutes after landing, I spotted my friend Denis Chouraqui approaching the archipelago.
We were able to capture this unforgettable moment on camera. I’ll leave you to enjoy it – happy viewing!
